Here are a handful of pics from our March meeting where Eugene Lo spoke about eddy current methods such as Pulsed Eddy Current for Corrosion Under Insulation and Tangential Eddy Current Array (TECA) used to detect and size surface-breaking cracks.
Eugene is an Applications Specialist at Eddyfi Corp, a subsidiary of Eddyfi Technologies and manufacturer of advanced Eddy Current inspection systems, where he helps clients and end users develop innovative solutions to challenging NDT inspection problems.
The Golden Gate Section celebrated the Holiday Season at the Terra Mia Ristorante in Livermore. We recognized the many contributions and accomplishments of our membership, and enjoyed a wonderful Italian lunch with sampling of wines from the Livermore Valley. Afterwards, we took a leisurely stroll down to see the world’s longest burning lightbulb (over 115 years!) at the Livermore Fire Department.
Here are a couple photos from the 2016 Fall Conference held in Long Beach, CA. We were one of the proud recipients of the Sections President's Award Trophy for 2016 from President Kevin Smith. Our Education Chair, Dan Kerr, spent the day on Science+Technology+Engineering+Math (STEM) outreach!
Bob Pelikan, a past GG-ASNT chairman and a prominent San Francisco Bay Area NDT sales person in the 1970's, was the principle speaker, with a somewhat humorous recount of what our section was like 40 plus years ago!
The Golden Gate Section met at the popular Lindsay Art Glass Studio in Benicia, CA. All attendees were treated to a live glassblowing demonstration by self-taught glass artist David Lindsay himself! See our collection of images showing how a glob of molten glass was magically transformed into a work of art. Afterwards we ventured one block away to the Rellik Tavern for our social gathering to celebrate the Holiday Season and to recognize the many contributions and accomplishments of our membership. Kudos to everyone that participated and helped make it a joyous event. Global Technical Services QA/NDT Training Manager Marty Anderson delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of NDT program audits. Golden Gate Section Vice Chair Mike Ballard presented Marty a plaque from the GG Section in appreciation for speaking on a topic which is extremely important to the success of an employer’s NDT program. The September meeting in San Ramon was well attended by long time Bay Area ASNT members as well as NDT practitioners new to the area.
